For sealing annular space Infiltration in newly lined CIPP mainlines, Injection Grouting will provide a great return on investment. Grouting is generally 1/5th of the cost of lateral connection lining, and when you are addressing every lateral on a large scale rehab project this can add up to serious savings. Additionally, lateral liners typically are installed with video evidence as their only post-intstallation “testing method”. Did it work (seal out the infiltration) or did it not? Grouting is performed by first performing an air test to verify that a leak is present (don’t spend money unless there is an issue), then following grouting installation, an air test is performed again to verify that the leaks have been stopped and that the grout will hold a pressure greater than the max head pressure possible based upon the depth of the pipe.
