Dothan, AL
Gulf Coast Underground, LLC (GCU) played a key role in the Dothan West Main Street Sewer Rehabilitation project, which focused on restoring aging gravity sewer infrastructure along one of the city’s busiest transportation corridors. The scope of work supported broader municipal goals of reducing infiltration and inflow (I&I), extending the life of critical underground assets, and improving system reliability through trenchless rehabilitation methods. GCU performed cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining on 5,280 linear feet of 8-inch main and conducted over 6,000 linear feet of pre-construction CCTV inspections to assess internal pipe conditions, confirm service locations, and verify system readiness for rehabilitation.
The project included substantial lateral rehabilitation, with the installation of 216 lateral CIPP liners and the reinstatement of 82 internal service taps. These tasks required precision coordination and execution to ensure proper alignment, sealing, and long-term performance. Manhole rehabilitation was also a key component of the work, with 290 vertical feet restored using approved structural lining systems. Additional elements included heavy cleaning of 10-inch sewer segments, post-lining CCTV verification, and site mobilization activities. These services were essential in restoring system function while limiting disruption to surface infrastructure. Field operations took place within a high-traffic urban corridor, requiring ongoing coordination with local agencies, traffic control personnel, and business owners. GCU implemented phased work zones, maintained public access, and adapted to changing site conditions to minimize disruption while staying on schedule. The team’s ability to manage confined access, dynamic work environments, and detailed technical specifications ensured that the rehabilitation work met or exceeded all performance requirements.
This project highlights GCU’s capability to execute complex, multi-scope trenchless rehabilitation work in urban environments while upholding quality, safety, and efficiency. The successful delivery of this project reinforced the effectiveness of trenchless solutions and GCU’s role in supporting long-term infrastructure reliability for the City of Dothan.
