Bay St. Louis, MS
Gulf Coast Underground (GCU), LLC served as the prime contractor for the comprehensive sanitary sewer cleaning and closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspection of over 366,000 linear feet of sewer infrastructure throughout Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The project encompassed pipe sizes ranging from 6 inches to 24 inches in diameter and included both standard and heavy cleaning, removal of protruding services, and full manhole inspection and reporting. This large-scale effort was initiated to assess the condition of the City’s aging infrastructure, identify sources of inflow and infiltration (I&I), and help prioritize areas for future rehabilitation.
GCU led all field operations, coordination efforts, and quality control, working closely with Chiniche Engineering and City personnel to ensure successful project delivery. Our experienced crews were equipped with advanced inspection and cleaning equipment, allowing them to navigate challenging field conditions, including heavily surcharged lines and limited-access locations. Through careful planning and efficient sequencing, GCU maintained progress across multiple work zones while minimizing service disruptions and ensuring public safety through properly implemented traffic control measures.
All inspections were conducted in accordance with NASSCO PACP/LACP standards, with inspection data reviewed, coded, and finalized by GCU’s in-house Data Management and QA/QC team. This internal review process ensured accuracy and consistency, with deliverables developed in GIS-compatible formats to support seamless integration into the City’s asset management and capital planning systems. The scope also included the removal of 9 protruding services, inspection of 25 manholes, and reverse setups in constrained areas—work that was entirely self-performed by GCU for maximum quality control and efficiency.
This project plays a vital role in supporting Bay St. Louis’s long-term strategy to reduce I&I and improve overall system performance. GCU’s technical capabilities, field expertise, and commitment to high-quality data delivery ensured the City received accurate, actionable results to guide future infrastructure investments.
