Maxwell Air Force Base – Replace/Repair Sewer Pipe

    Montgomery, AL

Gulf Coast Underground (GCU) was contracted to perform sanitary and storm sewer rehabilitation at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. The project required a combination of precision, scheduling discipline, and security compliance due to the active military environment. GCU first completed a comprehensive CCTV inspection and cleaning of the subsurface pipeline network, which included both storm and sanitary lines within operational zones of the airfield.

Based on inspection results, Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining was installed to structurally rehabilitate damaged pipelines. This trenchless method provided a long-term, no-dig solution that allowed the base to maintain full operational functionality on and around taxiways, runways, and service corridors. GCU deployed a full equipment fleet, including multiple boiler trucks, combo jet/vac trucks, refrigerated trailers for liner storage, and crew vehicles, all supported by in-house wet-out services.

Working on a secure military installation required close coordination with base personnel. GCU adhered to strict access control procedures, including vetting and badging for all field personnel, as well as compliance with all reporting and schedule restrictions. Crews maintained constant communication with Air Force Civil Engineering staff to ensure that daily work did not interfere with flight operations, base access, or sensitive facilities.

The project was completed safely, on time, and without disruption to military operations. It highlights GCU’s ability to operate efficiently in high-security, schedule-sensitive environments while delivering advanced trenchless rehabilitation services.
